"It's always difficult for an artist to talk about one's work. I guess for me the process of painting is a kind of joyful struggle, a journey to find harmony and unity.
I never plan ahead in any great detail and there are no hard and fast rules except to strive to communicate. Painting is very much an intuitive process it's not just about what I see, so much as what I feel about something and how it moves me.
Colour is important and emotive, so too is experimenting with tools, materials and methods in order to develop an appropriate language for a particular subject. Texture is also significant in my work, hence my fascination with mixed media.
Producing paintings is an intrinsic part of my nature. The world, its landscape, its people move me. I don't fight it. I don't try to understand it, its something I just have to do.
I hope you enjoy my work. "
