Sandra Graham - Freelance artist and tutor

Biography

Born in the West Midlands, Sandra has always had a passion for art though initially her career led her into the world of industry as a Castings Buyer, which she eventually gave up as the urge to paint grew ever stronger. In 1995 she gained a BA (Hons) in Painting and History of Art at Wolverhampton University under the tuition of Knighton Hosking. Her work then was fuelled by a fascination for the sublime images of the foundry industry.

She has worked freelance as an artist leading many community arts projects for Sandwell Creative Arts while working one-to-one with people who suffer with dementia for NHS Sandwell Third Age Arts. In 2000 she began teaching part time, and has since moved to Worcestershire with her husband and two boys.

Her current work is motivated by the captivating landscape of Arran, an island off the West Coast of Scotland, which she visits often with her family. She has a passion and excitement for nature, its beauty and overwhelming unpredictability. Often termed "Scotland in miniature" Arran has much to offer and its ever changing facets never fail to inspire her.
